A celebration of 40-year anniversary from Adidas - 北京马拉松

While we are focusing on marathon majors in the world, marathon events are heating up in China, too. Beijing Marathon will be held 31st October in 2021. This year will be its 40 years anniversary.

The Beijing International Marathon has been organised by the Chinese Athletics Association annually since 1981. The creation of the race, which was international in nature from its inception, was part of a wider movement to open up China and its culture to foreign innovations. There is a historical meaning behind this race in People’s republic of China.

The marathon is a Gold Label Road Race by World Athletics. The course is certified by AIMS.

To celebrate the 40 year’s anniversary, Adidas has specifically decorate their most popular and winning marathon shoe Adidas Adios Pro 2 with gold and red. In China, red means good fortune and gold means prosperity. Chinese characters “北京马拉松” have been imprinted on the inner upper mesh.

Unfortunately, this pair seems to be ONLY sold in China Mainland at the moment. If you have friends in China, here is the stockist.
